Principles and practice of Boycott (45 min)

This workshop, titled "Principles and practice of Boycott", will contextualise the BDS movement and adapt its principles to our context in Cambridge.

Modeled on the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa, BDS utilizes economic and public pressure to hold Israel accountable to international law. Just as the Apartheid-Free Zone movement pressured institutions globally to divest from companies profiting from racial segregation, the BDS movement targets corporations complicit in Gaza’s genocide and West Bank settlement expansion.

This workshop will examine the mechanisms of boycott campaigns and their impact on shifting public consciousness. Participants will learn practical strategies for building local Apartheid-Free Zones within their own communities, fostering ethical consumption habits, and supporting Palestinian liberation through principles of boycott.
