About

Who we are & how it works

The Cambridge Anarchist Bookfair is a free, volunteer-run gathering for anyone curious about anarchist and radical ideas — whether you’ve read shelves of theory or you’ve never picked up a pamphlet in your life.

What it is

Once a year we fill a community hall with anarchist presses, distros, mutual aid groups, local activists, artists, etc. We come together to share ideas and buy/sell books, zines, stickers, posters and so much more. There will be talks and workshops, pay-what-you-can vegan food, a freeshop, a crafts table, and all the amazing ideas you bring along with you. Come for an hour or stay all day!

Our principles

Non-hierarchical

Decisions are made together by the volunteer collective. Nobody is in charge and nobody is paid.

Not for profit

The fair runs on completely on donations. Any surplus goes to funding next year's bookfair.

No bosses, no corporate sponsors

We turn down sponsorship to stay independent. The fair belongs to the people who show up.

Safer spaces

Everyone is welcome, but harm is not. Racism, fascism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism and other oppressive behaviour have no place here. Speak to any steward if something isn’t right, and we’ll deal with it together.

Accessibility

If you have an access need, email us before the day and we’ll do our best to sort it.
